Customers Reviews

Really pleased we went with Callum, professional, friendly, and excellent service, which he delivered on time, with no interruptions to us (as we work from home). His quote was the most competitive, and spent the most time assessing our needs. He then explained the different options and which one he thought was best for our energy consumption. Callum gives ongoing support to help guide us through the app and work out the best ways to maximise our energy and when to sell back to the grid, a complicated system made easy by having his knowledge and support.. I would highly recommend.

This company is a certified business who installs solar energy panels of the highest quality. They also provide information on battery installation, selling your excess electricity to the grid and also a complete and comprehensive contract sent to you ahead of any signed contract. Callum Shields is the company owner and installer of the above and works with Euan Tait a certified electrical technician on the full installation. He uses the best equipment on the market and is very efficient and tidy in his work. He leaves nothing to chance and gives a personal touch to his work. My installation was smooth and tidy and done in his specified time frame. He also downloaded the APP onto my phone to show how much electricity I was making, a true easy going family man with his client’s interests foremost in his mind. My initial contact was through word of mouth and was given a FREE estimate to browse through at my leisure, with any questions answered clearly, there was no sales pressure whatsoever, just clear information right from the beginning. First class work and after installation contact was five star. I fully recommend this chap if you are considering solar installation.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are very pleased we chose South Scotland Solar for our PV and battery install. We’d had designs and quotes from several installers but only South Scotland designed a system would provide emergency power backup despite asking all suppliers. Their price was competitive too. They specified a Sigenergy system which we’d not heard of but is excellent with a modular design and very good app based control. It lets us optimise use of battery, solar panels and tariffs. Despite being their first Signenergy install and ours being an unusual site, everything went smoothly. Callum and his team are friendly and approachable. There’s no hard sell sales push that I’ve experienced with other firms. So we’re very happy to recommend them - spend time thinking about what you want and discuss it with them. Then enjoy much lower bills and environmental impact. Thanks!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We spoke to several installers in preparation for a major refurbishment of our roof, and Callum really impressed us with his depth of knowledge. It was a tricky install, working around other trades, but Callum’s team did a highly professional job, and we are delighted with the results. The system consists of 22 in-roof solar PV panels, 3 batteries and inverter. Callum’s advice on sizing the system was invaluable. Thank you South Scotland Solar Ltd

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had three different solar panel quotes and Callum's was head and shoulders above the rest. The install went smoothly and he took time to show me how the monitoring app works. Been running for four months now and genuinely pleased with the results.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Following my recent solar and battery installation, I am very happy to recommend South Scotland Solar Ltd.  Calum & Liam were easy to deal with, and they really helped me better understand my requirements. They supplied, installed and commissioned the complete system, and carried out all the associated paperwork necessary for the grid connection and export. I started receiving export payments in under 4 weeks, which I understand is quick.
I've had a keen interest in using solar & battery for a few years, and after a lot of investigating and exploring options and costs, I finally took the plunge.  There are lots of enticing offerings around, but I wanted to deal with an established local company with a proven history and good reviews. So I contacted South Scotland Solar Ltd. for a proposal and explained that I did not want a visit from a salesperson but wanted to discuss with someone with the skill/knowledge and practical experience.  Liam visited and I explained what I wanted and we had a good and varied chat around all associated aspects. Liam carried out a roof survey, checking the mains electric setup, battery location etc., and a few days later I received a detailed design proposal and costs. Interestingly, their calculated payback time matched mine, but was calculated on an entirely different basis.  I use a smart "Time of Use" tariff where my average electric unit cost is significantly below the standard rate, so potentially I had a longer payback, but by importing when cheap and exporting later the sums made sense.
I am very happy with the system's performance and with the service received from South Scotland Solar Ltd.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Callum and his team were brilliant! They are enthusiastic, polite, knowledgeable and easy to get hold of when you have questions. The panels were put up with minimal fuss or mess. They tidied up after themselves. The whole process was easy. The price was good. If I need to put up solar panels in the future I would definitely use South Scotland Solar.
