Really pleased we went with Callum, professional, friendly, and excellent service, which he delivered on time, with no interruptions to us (as we work from home). His quote was the most competitive, and spent the most time assessing our needs. He then explained the different options and which one he thought was best for our energy consumption. Callum gives ongoing support to help guide us through the app and work out the best ways to maximise our energy and when to sell back to the grid, a complicated system made easy by having his knowledge and support.. I would highly recommend.

Normally I don't leave reviews but felt compelled to do so for South Scotland Solar. On looking for a company to provide solar panels and a battery, I was recommended South Scotland Solar by several people. I asked 3 companies for quotes and Callum was the only person that came when he said he would and was extremely thorough, spending much longer than the other companies, going over every detail and checking all the aspects of the property. I was impressed straight away with his manner and professionalism and was very surprised how competitive his quote was when it arrived. The detail he provided was excellent and was by far the best presented and easiest to understand of all the quotes. I engaged Callum's services and he gave me a clear timescale. It was a slightly unusual install in a large Summerhouse with a non-standard roof. Prior to installation, some of my requirements changed. Callum took this in his stride and his communication was excellent, repyling to my messages very quickly. He came up with a new plan based on my changed requirements, specifically tailored for me. When it came to the install time, he arrived on time, when he said he would and I can testify to how hard he worked throughout. He is clearly a hard-working person. The standard of his work was first class from start to finish. and cleaned up after himself. In addition to this, he was a genuinely nice person, talking about his young family and sharing a joke or two. It really was a pleasure to have him in my home. In terms of the install, I couldn't be happier and it's exceeded what I had hoped for. It's great to see how much I'm saving! I have no hesitation in recommending Callum, he is top of his class, a decent person, and is clearly passionate about his work and business. If you're reading this and pondering who to go with, honestly, don't look any further, you really won't be disappointed.

5 Star Rated Solar Panel Installation

Ensuring a proficient installation for your solar panel system is crucial to maximise its effectiveness and guarantee the efficiency of your battery storage unit. A meticulously executed installation not only prioritises optimal safety but also safeguards your significant investment.

The installation of solar panels constitutes a significant financial commitment, demanding careful planning to achieve peak performance and efficiency. Consider the following pivotal factors for a successful solar panel installation:

Most importantly, verify that the installation is performed by solar panel installers approved by MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme). South Scotland Solar Ltd holds MCS certification number NAP-69293.

Getting at least three quotes for solar installation is crucial. Some companies might overcharge, and having multiple quotes enables you to compare and spot any inconsistencies in pricing.

Conduct a thorough site assessment to assess the available sunlight, potential shading issues from nearby trees or buildings, and determine the best location and angle for solar panel installation. Factors like the orientation and tilt of the panels greatly influence their efficiency.

Evaluate your energy consumption patterns to determine the appropriate size for your solar energy system. Consider both your current and future energy needs to ensure the system is adequately sized.

Set a budget for your solar panel installation, considering both the initial costs and the potential long-term savings on energy bills. Explore available financing options and government incentives to make the investment more economically feasible.

Choose solar panels from reputable manufacturers renowned for their superior quality. Consider factors such as efficiency, warranty, and durability, especially considering Scotland’s climate. Although high-quality panels may entail a higher initial expense, they often deliver superior performance and reliability over the long term.

Select an appropriate inverter that converts the DC electricity generated by the panels into AC electricity for your home use. Consider factors such as efficiency, compatibility with your panels, and the capability to integrate with energy storage solutions, if required.

Decide if you need a solar battery storage system to store excess energy for use during periods of low sunlight or power outages. Energy storage solutions can enhance your energy independence and resilience.

Obtain the necessary permits and approvals from local authorities. Familiarise yourself with local regulations, building codes, and guidelines from homeowners’ associations related to solar panel installations.

Establish a regular maintenance schedule, encompassing tasks like cleaning the panels, checking for damages, and monitoring the system’s performance. Our PV systems come equipped with monitoring tools that allow you to track energy production and detect potential issues.

Become acquainted with the warranties provided by the solar panel manufacturer, inverter manufacturer, solar battery manufacturer, and the installation company.

Consider the environmental impact of your choice of solar panels, including the materials used, recycling possibilities, and the carbon footprint linked to the manufacturing process.

By carefully considering these factors and consulting with solar energy experts, you can ensure a successful and efficient solar panel installation tailored to your specific needs and circumstances.

This company is a certified business who installs solar energy panels of the highest quality. They also provide information on battery installation, selling your excess electricity to the grid and also a complete and comprehensive contract sent to you ahead of any signed contract. Callum Shields is the company owner and installer of the above and works with Euan Tait a certified electrical technician on the full installation. He uses the best equipment on the market and is very efficient and tidy in his work. He leaves nothing to chance and gives a personal touch to his work. My installation was smooth and tidy and done in his specified time frame. He also downloaded the APP onto my phone to show how much electricity I was making, a true easy going family man with his client’s interests foremost in his mind. My initial contact was through word of mouth and was given a FREE estimate to browse through at my leisure, with any questions answered clearly, there was no sales pressure whatsoever, just clear information right from the beginning. First class work and after installation contact was five star. I fully recommend this chap if you are considering solar installation.

F.A.Q About Solar Panel Installation

Feel free to reach out to us if you have any further inquiries regarding your solar panel installation.

The space needed for solar panels varies depending on your energy requirements and the efficiency of the panels. Generally, a residential solar panel system requires around 100-400 square feet of roof space per kilowatt of installed capacity.

The installation timeframe typically varies from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the solar panel system. Weather conditions and permit approvals can also affect the timeline.

Please be assured that we will maintain open communication with you after booking and throughout the installation process to keep you thoroughly informed.

The permits and paperwork required for solar panel installation vary depending on the location. In Scotland, particularly for residential solar panel installations, needing planning permission is rare.

A reliable MCS installer like us can help you navigate the paperwork and obtain any necessary planning permission.

Absolutely not!

While it’s technically possible to install solar panels by yourself, it’s highly recommended to hire a professional installer. This ensures that your panels are correctly commissioned, and your product warranty stays valid. Solar panel installation involves electrical work, structural analysis, and compliance with local regulations. Choosing a licensed MCS installer ensures that the system is safe, efficient, and eligible for any available incentives.

Certainly, many governments offer incentives and grants to promote the adoption of solar energy. These incentives can significantly reduce the initial costs associated with solar panel installation.

If you qualify, solar panel grants and loans are available through Home Energy Scotland, and we will guide you through the application process.

Indeed, we frequently perform installations to upgrade our customers’ solar PV systems.

The feasibility of an upgrade depends on the age and condition of the panels, and it’s best assessed on an individual basis. For further details, please feel free to email us or give us a call to start a detailed discussion.

Indeed, we provide the installation of solar battery storage systems to enhance the existing solar panels owned by individuals.
